Dosthill Primary Academy is reflecting on a recent Ofsted inspection that highlighted the school’s remarkable progress and positive environment. The report celebrates the academy as a place where pupils thrive, showcasing a series of commendable achievements and improvements.

A Thriving Environment

The inspection revealed that pupils at Dosthill Primary are genuinely happy and enthusiastic about coming to school. The academy’s ambition for all its pupils is evident, with children achieving well across the board, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). From the youngest in Reception to those in Year 6, pupils show respect for one another, contributing to a calm and purposeful atmosphere.

Dosthill Primary’s curriculum is both broad and ambitious, designed to foster the joy of exploration and discovery. Recent reviews of how pupils with SEND are identified and supported have led to better-adapted learning activities, ensuring all pupils can access lessons effectively. Learning to read is a key priority, with a new phonics approach and whole school training boosting staff confidence and pupil enthusiasm for books and authors.
