Dosthill Primary Academy Celebrates World Book Day 2024
In a vibrant display of literary love, pupils at Dosthill Primary Academy wholeheartedly embraced World Book Day 2024. The school staff, eager to celebrate the magic of stories that transport us to different worlds, were thrilled by the enthusiastic participation.
While the costumes were fantastic, they were merely the icing on the cake. The real joy lay in the pages of the cherished books that the pupils brought to life. The day was filled with activities that encouraged pupils to dive into their favourite tales and share their love of reading. Reception classes were buzzing with excitement as all the children embraced their very first Dosthill World Book Day.
Book tokens, courtesy of the fabulous PTA, were awarded to pupils who particularly embraced the day’s activities. The lucky recipients were:
- EYFS: Hudson, Heidi, and Maddison
- Year 1: Chloe and Juno
- Year 2: Freddie, Delilah, and Isabelle
- Year 3: Phoebe, Alfie, and Max
- Year 4: Teddy and Jack
- Year 5: Evelyn, Rose, and Isla
- Year 6: Alfie, Evie, and Finley
Mrs Burke, Deputy Headteacher and current reading leader, was delighted with the event. “It was lovely to see so many children really think about their favourite author or character. We had pupils dressed as dictionaries alongside less well-known authors that other pupils may now try to read,” she said.
Staff at Dosthill Primary Academy are already looking forward to World Book Day 2025, hoping to inspire even more pupils to discover the joy of reading.
The school would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the parents for their support of the day. The commitment to fostering great reading habits and a love of books in their children will undoubtedly stand them in good stead for the future.
